The Southside Summer Social Series is a welcoming social hockey competition that brings together juniors and seniors, beginners and experienced players, in a fun and inclusive environment we describe as Mixed, Modified and Mentored. Managed by Tuggeranong Vikings Hockey Club, the series focuses on participation, skill development, and community connection. Read on to learn more.
The HACT Midweek social competition is aimed at existing hockey players who are looking to continue playing 'the real deal' over the summer months. Games are played on a full-sized hockey field (91.4m long and 55m wide), with 4 x 17-minute quarters. Teams play once per week on a Tuesday or Thursday.
The HACT Sunday afternoon social competition is open to all and enables friends and family to play together. The Sunday Social competition will be played on a full-sized field with 50 minute games consisting of 2 x 25 minute halves. The competition is played with modified social rules making it safer and more inclusive for all skill levels.

Who's it for?
Southside Summer Social, brought to you by Around the Bend Plumbing, is perfect for juniors and adults who are new to the sport and want to give it a try. Participating in Southside Social helps to develop skills, game sense and community in a safe and inclusive environment.
Southside Social is also ideal for experienced juniors and seniors or players returning to hockey from absence or injury, wanting to get some conditioning before the winter season, or who enjoy playing a social series.
Where and when is it?
Sunday 8 February to Sunday 15 March (6 weeks)
9:30AM & 10:30AM games
Tuggeranong Hockey Park, 288 Soward Way, Greenway
What's the cost?
Thanks to a generous sponsorship package from Jamie at Around the Bend Plumbing, we have been able to reduce registration costs down to $20 per players (juniors and seniors) and are now welcoming registrations. The separate Hockey Australia Levy (capitation fee) must also be paid for anyone playing hockey in 2026, which covers players for insurance across the 2026 calendar year regardless of how much hockey you play. It is only paid once, but it must be paid before stepping on the pitch.
If you are registered with another club, you’ll need to go through the registration process with them, pay the Hockey Australia Levy, and then come back to the Vikings page to register via the Events link. Further information will then come out regarding team lists, the draw and special events.
